Christy Horowitz is an experienced trial attorney and a compassionate advocate for her clients with a focus on family and criminal law. Christy started her career as an associate in a family law firm and proceeded to serve as a Deputy District Attorney in the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office. She gained valuable trial experience in the areas of domestic violence, child endangerment, driving under the influence, sex crimes, narcotics, theft and vehicular manslaughter among others. She also resolved matters through preventive litigation and mediation including but not limited to issues regarding mental competency and health. She has spoken at numerous events on internet safety and the dangers of cyber-bullying.
Christy received her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Alabama where she graduated summa cum laude, was on the Dean’s List, and received the Academic Excellence Award for Best Senior Paper in the Administrative Sciences. She attended law school locally at the Santa Barbara College of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate and was admitted to the California State Bar in 2007.
While in law school, Christy interned at Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office for over two years and served as a certified law student in the domestic violence unit. She also was a law clerk for the Santa Barbara Superior Court criminal division and for the prosecution team on the criminal prosecution of Michael Jackson.
She has served as an assistant coach for the Santa Barbara High School Mock Trial team, participated in the Anti- Defamation League of Santa Barbara, volunteered for the Santa Barbara Food Bank, served as a board member for the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center, was a previous member of the William L. Gordon Inn of Court, and is a current member of Santa Barbara County Bar Association and American Bar Association.
Christy resides in Santa Barbara with her husband and law partner, Sanford, two daughters and their dog, Osher.
